Be Still: Where It All Began

"Be still, and know that I am God." — Psalm 46:10

This was the first bracelet I ever made for Still & Known. In a way, it’s the reason the whole collection exists.

Before I designed anything, I had the name. Still & Known came from this verse — Psalm 46:10. Be still, and know that I am God. There is something about those words that has always felt like an anchor to me. Not a command to be passive, but an invitation to stop striving long enough to remember what is true. To come back to the quiet. To let yourself be known by the one who already knows you completely.

Once I had the name, I knew I needed a bracelet that carried that same feeling. So I started with the stones.

I chose blue apatite as the main stone. It’s a deep, layered blue — not the clear, bright blue of aquamarine, which feels more open and airy. Apatite has more depth to it. More complexity. It’s the kind of blue that holds something inside it, like deep water or a late evening sky. A blue with a story. That felt right for a verse about stillness.

I added a few blue crackle quartz beads for variety — a slightly different tone and texture among the apatite, so the eye has somewhere to travel. And at the center, a double-terminated clear quartz point: two ends, both faceted, catching light from both directions. It introduces a moment of clarity and contrast among all that blue. Something sharp and clean in the middle of the depth.

Then the moonstone chips. Small, unassuming, a soft grey-white that doesn’t draw attention to itself. That was intentional. Moonstone has a quiet quality — a gentle shimmer rather than a flash. Chips rather than polished rounds, so they sit small and humble on the wrist. A little reminder, not an announcement.

That’s what I wanted the whole bracelet to feel like. Not something that declares your faith loudly or performs devotion for other people to see. Something quieter than that. Something that says: I know where I am. I know who holds me. I don’t need to shout it.

Be still.

This bracelet is where Still & Known began. Every piece I’ve made since has been trying to carry that same intention — something beautiful, something meaningful, something worn close and kept quiet.
