Fearfully and Wonderfully Made: The Heart Behind Every Bracelet

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made." — Psalm 139:14
My husband mentioned this verse to me recently, almost in passing. But it stayed with me for days.
Fearfully and wonderfully made. The idea that every person is not an accident, not a copy, not produced in quantity—but carefully, intentionally, lovingly formed. Known before being named. Held in mind before taking shape.
I thought about that while I was working on a bracelet one evening. And I realized: this is what I try to do too.
Every bracelet in the Still & Known collection is made by hand, one at a time. None of them are wholesale. None of them are batch-produced. Each one has a name, a Scripture verse, and a story of how it came together—and that story is always a little different.
Sometimes I start with the verse. Green Pastures began with Psalm 23—the image of lying down in green pastures, of stillness and restoration. I knew I wanted something in that exact color: the deep, living green of grass in full summer. So I went looking for a stone that carried it. Green chalcedony was the answer—cool, translucent, quietly vibrant. The verse came first, and the stone followed.
Other times, it’s the stone that comes first. I’ll come across something that stops me—a texture, a color, a quality of light—and I’ll sit with it for a while before I know what it wants to become. Spring Awakening started that way. The main stone is green cherry blossom agate, and there’s something about it that feels like exactly that: the moment winter breaks, when things that looked dead start to stir again. The energy of early spring—tender but full of force. The Scripture and the name came after, but they came naturally, because the stone already knew what it was about.
And then there are the names. I spend more time on names than most people would probably guess. A name has to carry the verse, the stone, and the feeling—all at once, in just a few words. Sometimes it comes quickly. Sometimes I sit with a finished bracelet for days before the right name arrives.
All of this is to say: when you hold one of these bracelets, you are holding something that someone thought about carefully. Not just the design, but the meaning. The hope that it would find the right person at the right time and say something true to them.
I’ll be sharing the story behind each bracelet in this blog—how it started, what it’s made of, and what I hope it carries. Because every one of them was made with intention. Every one of them has a name. And every one of them, I think, is waiting for the person it was made for.
If these words have been a quiet companion today, you're welcome to subscribe — I share new reflections when a stone, a verse, or a season gives me something worth writing down.
