Why I Started Still & Known

Updated: May 14

I’ve been making jewelry for over five years. Mooncord (click to see it), my first business, is built around freshwater pearls — and pearls are genuinely beautiful. There’s something about them that makes a woman feel elegant, soft, quietly confident. I love that. I’m proud of that.

But somewhere around year five, I started wanting something more.

I kept thinking about what makes a piece of jewelry truly matter to someone. It’s rarely just the way it looks. A simple necklace becomes irreplaceable because a father gave it to his daughter. A plain ring carries a whole life inside it. The object doesn’t change — the meaning does. And meaning is what makes people hold on to things.

I could see this in the market too. Personalized jewelry sells — name necklaces, birth month flowers, zodiac pendants — because people want something that speaks to who they are, something that carries a story. But I’m a Christian, and I’ve never been drawn to centering myself that way. Astrology isn’t something I believe in. And I’ve always felt that the most meaningful things in my life have come not from celebrating who I am, but from remembering whose I am. That’s what I wanted Still & Known’s jewelry to be grounded in.

So I started asking myself: what if the meaning came from Scripture? What if each piece was a handmade Christian bracelet designed around a specific Bible verse — chosen carefully, paired with gemstones that reflected its message visually?

And then there was the question of what kind of jewelry. I decided on bracelets, for a reason that felt important to me: a bracelet is something you wear for yourself. A necklace, earrings — those are often about how you present yourself to the world. But a bracelet sits on your own wrist. You’re the one who sees it throughout the day, in quiet moments, in hard ones. It’s a more intimate kind of jewelry. More personal.

That’s what Still & Known is. Not just something beautiful to wear, but something that comforts, reminds, and quietly speaks into your day. I wanted to make jewelry that could find someone at the right moment and say: you are not alone. There is grace here. You are known.

That felt like enough of a reason to start.

A Few Things People Ask Me

What is Still & Known?

Still & Known is a small handmade jewelry business that pairs gemstone bracelets with Scripture verses. Each piece belongs to one of three collections — Peace, Hope, or Strength — designed to meet you in whatever season you’re in. The name comes from Psalm 46:10: “Be still, and know that I am God.”

How is Still & Known different from other Christian jewelry brands?

Every bracelet is handmade, and the Scripture pairing is chosen intentionally — not just printed on a tag, but matched to the stones, the collection, and the message. The goal isn’t decoration. It’s a small, daily reminder of something true.

Are these good gifts for Christians?

That’s how many people find them — as a meaningful gift for someone going through a hard season, or for a birthday, Mother’s Day, Christmas, or graduation. Many of the bracelets, especially in the Strength collection, are unisex. Because each piece comes with its Scripture, the meaning travels with it. You’re not just giving jewelry. You’re giving a reminder.
